Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Actor Wants to Play Green Goblin in Live-Action

With Marvel’s latest animated series, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, gradually cementing its place in the hearts of fans, Colman Domingo, who voices Norman Osborn, has come out to shed light on his character’s transformation into the Green Goblin and other live-action MCU roles he could tackle. In this elseworld setup, Osborn serves as Peter Parker’s mentor, similar to the role that Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark played in the MCU. As such, Domingo’s character starts off proceedings on the positive end of the spectrum, causing fans to wonder if they will get to see Osborn’s ultimate transition into the maniacal supervillain.

Colman Domingo on Norman Osborn’s Green Goblin evolution in new Spider-Man series

Colman Domingo stated that viewers of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man can expect Norman Osborn to don the mantle of Green Goblin in the series’ upcoming seasons. He also divulged that he has had meetings with Marvel executives about a potential live-action appearance in the MCU.

During his recent appearance on the Happy Sad Confused Podcast, the Sing Sing star discussed his Marvel role with host Josh Horowitz in depth. While talking about his desire to portray Norman Osborn in live-action, Colman Domingo noted, “It’s cool, but I do want to get the live-action out, too. Wouldn’t that be kind of cool? I would love to tear that up on the big screen.”

He then confirmed that fans will get to see his character transform into the Green Goblin, albeit in due time. “I’m having a good time, I love the animation. I love the idea of playing Norman Osborn, and you’ll see his evolution into the Green Goblin in the coming seasons, which will be very cool,” Domingo revealed.

In the interview, the veteran actor also addressed rumors linking him to the other live-action Marvel roles, including that of Kang the Conqueror. Despite being open to undertaking an MCU part, Domingo seemed to have some conditions regarding the kind of role he’d accept. “I’m just all about energy and I just want to do things that make sense and bring gentle energy. I want a role to be mine, whatever that role is…I want to build something from the ground up that’s my own,” he stated.

At the time of writing, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man has already premiered five episodes of its debut season, with the remaining five set to come out in the coming days.
