Colman Domingo has recently opened up about the rumors that he has spoken with Marvel Studios about potentially replacing Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror in the MCU.
What did Colman Domingo say about the Kang the Conqueror rumors?
Domingo appearing in the MCU in some capacity has been a hot topic for years now, but picked up steam when Jonathan Majors was removed from his role as Kang following various legal issues.
Speaking during a recent appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Domingo — who stars as Norman Osborn in the Disney+ animated series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man — acknowledged that he spoke with Marvel, but he hopes to do something original instead of replacing anyone.
“There had been conversations about me coming into Marvel in some way so we did follow up with a sit-down meeting with the heads of Marvel, so I did do that,” Domingo said. “We talked openly about the landscape of Marvel and even the Kang rumors.
“I personally knew, I’m just all about energy and want to do things that make sense and bring gentle energy . . . I want a role to be mine, whatever that role is. Whatever I develop something doesn’t feel right . . . I want to build something from the ground up that’s my own. [Kang] was never a conversation from my point of view. If I was discussed, I still don’t know . . . there’s still talks.”
The future of Kang the Conqueror remains mostly up in the air, with rumors circulating that Majors could return to the role at some point. However, as of now, Marvel Studios seems ready to move forward with new villains.
