Anthony Mackie on why Captain America’s cowl is missing in Brave New World
The Twisted Metal star recently disclosed why the cowl was removed from his Captain America costume in Captain America 4.
In an interview with IGN, the host asked Anthony Mackie about why Marvel Studios decided to remove the “white half-helmet look.” He told the outlet that the cowl was removed because of his request.
Mackie said, “Because I told them that I was never wearing that s–t again, dude. That was hard. With the heat, the sweat, the fogged-up glasses, it was impossible. It was called a cowl. You can’t do anything.” The actor further described the white cowl as his “worst nightmare.”
According to Deadline, talking about his new costume in Captain America: Brave New World in November 2024, Mackie also conveyed at Disney’s APAC Content Showcase that it is “a high-tech suit.” Furthermore, he added, “I went to Wakanda, met with everybody in Wakanda, we had dinner. It was a great time. They threw me a welcome party. It was dope. But when I was leaving, they gave me a suit, right? I put it on. I can kick harder, I can fly faster, and it gives me the ability to be more agile in my skills, so it’s taking all my skills to a completely different level.”
Meanwhile, Captain America: Brave New World is releasing in theaters around the world on February 14, 2025.
