Outer Banks star Madelyn Cline has been tapped to join Lionsgate‘s upcoming movie Day Drinker, which will be led by Pirates of the Caribbean vets Johnny Depp and Penélope Cruz. Further details about Cline’s character are still being kept under wraps.
Besides Outer Banks, Cline was also part of the all-star ensemble cast of Netflix’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. She is currently in production for Sony Pictures’ untitled I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel, with original cast members Jennifer Love Hewitt Cline and Freddie Prinze Jr. Cline will also next be seen in Amazon MGM Studios’ romantic drama movie The Map That Leads to You with KJ Apa.
What is Day Drinker about?
“In the film, a cruise ship bartender meets a mysterious day drinker—only for both of them to find themselves entangled in a criminal underbelly, and connected in unexpected ways,” reads the official synopsis.
Day Drinker will be directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay written by Zach Dean. The film hails from John Wick producers Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee, who are producing for Thunder Road. It will also be produced by Dean and Adam Kolbrenner, with 30WEST executive producing. At the moment, the movie has no official release date yet.
Adam Fogelson, chair of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, described Day Drinker as a film that “combines a highly commercial concept with wildly outrageous twists and turns all set in an incredible world” in a statement. Chelsea Kujawa will oversee the project for Lionsgate, while Dan Freedman negotiated the studio’s deals.
