Baby Reindeer star Jessica Gunning has joined the main cast members of Steven Soderbergh‘s planned dark comedy, The Christophers.
Soderbergh is attached to direct the feature based on a script by Soderbergh’s previous collaborator Ed Solomon. Both Soderbergh and Solomon have worked together on projects like No Sudden Move, Bill & Ted Face the Music, and Full Circle. The movie, which will start shooting this month in London, will be executive produced by Department M’s Michael Schaefer and Mike Larocca.
Who else is in The Christophers cast?
According to Deadline, Gunning will be rounding out the lead cast of The Christophers. She is joining previously announced cast members Ian McKellen (The Lord of the Rings, the X-Men film trilogy), James Corden (Cats, Into the Woods), and Michaela Coel (I May Destroy You, Black Earth Rising). The project was first announced back in December of 2024.
Per the film’s plot description (via Deadline), “The Christophers is a dark comedy about the estranged children of a once-famous artist who hire a forger to complete his unfinished works so they can be discovered and sold after his death.”
The Christophers marks Gunning’s next project following Nextfil’s stalker drama Baby Reindeer, for which she won an Emmy and Golden Globe for her outstanding performance as Martha. Her other acting credits include The Outlaws, Trollied, Prime Suspect 1973, and Law & Order: UK, among others.
The actress can also be seen in the upcoming film The Magic Faraway Tree opposite Rebecca Ferguson and Andrew Garfield.
The director, on the other hand, is best known for his work in 2001’s Ocean’s Eleven, 2004’s Ocean’s Twelve, 2007’s Ocean’s Thirteen, Traffic, Magic Mike, Logan Lucky, Contagion, Side Effects, Unsane, High Flying Bird, No Sudden Move, Kimi, Magic Mike’s Last Dance, and more.
