Captain America Fans Slam ‘Slow’ Brave New World’s Battle Clip

Marvel Studios recently released a fight clip featuring Anthony Mackie from Captain America 4, which is drawing criticism from fans online. Mackie, returning as Sam Wilson, will carry on the legacy of Captain America after Steve Rogers chose him as his successor. The movie also introduces Harrison Ford as Thaddeus Ross in the MCU.

Captain America: Brave New World’s new battle clip gets major backlash

A brand new clip from Captain America: Brave New World was released online and it quickly sparked discussions on the internet. In the clip, Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson is seen carrying out Captain America duties as he takes on a tough opponent in hand-to-hand combat.

Here’s the clip:

The clip, which shows Mackie’s Cap taking blows from his opponent and struggling, reinforces the idea that Sam Wilson indeed did not take any super serum like Steve Rogers. However, it prompted fans to call out the movie for the quality and choreography of the fight sequence.

One of the disappointed fans took to X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, “Hold up why does this look so bad,” with another stating, “Damn Cap REALLY didn’t take the serum.”

Another X user compared the fight scene’s quality with that of a television series and wrote, “It looks like a tv show wtf.”

A user named Chad ‘The Creator’ Enjoyer complained about the pace of the scene and asserted, “Is the fight scene supposed to be this slow or…?”

Another fan revealed how he was feeling optimistic about the movie after watching the trailers but for him, the fight scene “was just bad and actually lessened what optimism [he] had.”

Earlier, Anthony Mackie had revealed the reason behind his Captain America not taking the super serum, even in the future. He said, “Yeah, I don’t think he will. I think if you look at Sam, Sam is every man’s Captain America. The idea of him just being a regular guy that’s been thrust into this position of leadership is something that we all can identify with, something that we all can relate to.”

Captain America: Brave New World will premiere across the globe on February 14, 2025.
