Black Panther 3 T’Challa Recast Rumors, Potential Story Details Addressed by Marvel Producer

Marvel Studios’  VP of Production & Development Nate Moore shared some new details about Black Panther 3, as well as the truth regarding the rumors surrounding the recast of the late Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa.

A rumor circulated last month claiming that Marvel is allegedly looking for a new actor to star as T’Challa for future MCU projects. Boseman first played the titular superhero in Captain America: Civil War back in 2016 and reprised the role in 2018 for the standalone feature Black Panther

The character also appeared in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War and 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. Boseman sadly passed away at the age of 43 in 2020.

What did Nate Moore say about Black Panther 3 T’Challa recasting rumors?

Moore in an interview with ComicBook debunked the recasting rumors and shared some potential plot details for Black Panther 3, teasing how the Anthony Mackie-led Captain America: Brave New World can help set up the third installment.

“The truth is, there’s no truth to those rumors. Never say never to anything, we haven’t really had a lot of creative conversations with Ryan Coogler yet, because he’s finishing his film Sinners, which comes out this year. We’ll get into it later this year, but everything you read online is not true, if for no other reason than we just haven’t started [working on it],” Moore said.

He added: “I’m sure Wakanda will have an opinion about the arrival of Adamantium. And I’m sure Wakanda had an opinion on Sam Wilson as Captain America. Clearly, they seem to support him, as they’ve given him some technology to help him out. But Wakanda isn’t in the best graces with the U.S. government, so there’s a possibility for conflict in a lot of different ways. I think Wakanda, to me, gets to play in the same political thriller sandbox as Captain America because it does deal with globalization and global politics, so anything is possible.”

Kevin Feige last year confirmed that a third Black Panther film is in development after Denzel Washington accidentally spilled his involvement in the project.

Other details about Black Panther 3 remain under wraps.
