Eric Bana (Black Hawk Down, Troy) has been tapped to join the Apex cast for Netflix‘s upcoming survival thriller movie. At the moment, further details about Bana’s character are still being kept under wraps.
Bana was most recently seen in the mystery thriller movie A Sacrifice with Sadie Sink. Besides Apex, the Australian actor is also currently attached to star in the upcoming limited drama thriller titled, Untamed with Rosemarie DeWitt and Sam Neill.
Who will lead the Apex cast?
Netflix’s the Apex movie will be led by Academy Award winner Charlize Theron (Monster, Mad Max: Fury Road) and Golden Globe winner Taron Egerton (Rocketman, Kingsman movies). This marks both Theron and Egerton’s latest collaboration with the streamer, after respectively starring in 2020’s The Old Guard, and in 2024’s Carry-On. In addition, Theron has also signed on as a producer on the project.
“Described as Free Solo meets Silence of the Lambs, the film follows a rock climber who finds herself being hunted in the wild,” reads the initial synopsis.
The film will be directed by Baltasar Kormákur from a screenplay written by Jeremy Robbins. Kormákur is best known for his work on 2012’s Contraband, 2013’s 2 Guns, 2015’s Everest, 2018’s Adrift, and 2022’s Beast. The project will be produced by Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping and David Ready for Chernin Entertainment, Ian Bryce for Ian Bryce Productions, Beth Kono and AJ Dix for Secret Menu, and Kormákur for RVK Studios. Executive producers are Ray Angelic, Will McCance and Dawn Olmstead for Secret Menu.
