ComingSoon can exclusively reveal the cast for Poachers Moon, a new South African crime drama movie.
Poachers Moon has now officially started principal photography in the Nothern Cape’s Kimberley location. The movie marks the feature film directorial debut of Tom Datnow. Datnow also wrote the script and plays a character named James Hollander in the film.
Who else is part of the Poachers Moon cast?
Along with Datnow, the cast of Poachers Moon includes Kwenzo Ngcobo, Muzi Mthabela, Ayanda Bandla-Ngubane, Stelio Savante, Ntando Zondi, Thami Mngqolo, Kathryn Crosby, Andre Jacobs, Leroy Gopal, Martez Saporta-Rothuysen, and Sabelo Radebe.
“Set against the South African landscape, Poachers Moon is a gripping crime drama that delves into the harrowing realities faced by two childhood friends, navigating trauma, poverty, and the grim world of rhino poaching,” a description of the movie reads. “The story weaves a tale of intertwined fates, resilience, and hope through the lives of James Hollander (Datnow) and Michael ‘Moremi’ Zungu (Ngcobo).”

Poachers Moon is produced by Datnow’s production banner, DODATNOW FILMS, Mqondisi ‘MQ’ Ngubane, who was previously an executive producer for 2024’s A Wesley South African Chrismas.
The movie is also being supported by several Northern Cape Government Departments, including The Premiers Offices, the Department of Sports, Art & Culture, Economic Development and Tourism, and NCEDA.
Approximately 70 percent of the Poacher’s Moon team is sourced in the Northern Cape, while the remaining crew comes from Gauteng, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
A release date for Poachers Moon has not yet been announced.
