Adam Sandler & George Clooney Netflix Movie Gets Title, Release Date Window

A title and release date window for Noah Baumbach’s new Netflix movie, which stars Adam Sandler and George Clooney, has been revealed.

Baumbach is working on a new Netflix film that he co-wrote alongside Emily Mortimer. The project is described as a “heartbreaking comedy,” though further plot details beyond that remain under wraps at this time.

What is the title and release date window for the Adam Sandler and George Clooney Netflix movie?

Per Deadline, Baumbach’s new movie has been officially titled Jay Kelly, which is the title that has been rumored for a while. It will be released on Netflix sometime this coming fall, though an exact date has not yet been announced.

Along with Sandler (Uncut Gems, Happy Gilmore) and Clooney (Wolfs, Ocean’s Eleven), Jay Kelly stars Mortimer, Laura Dern, Greta Gerwig, Billy Crudup, Grace Edwards, Stacy Keach, Riley Keough, Patrick Wilson, Jim Broadbent, Eve Hewson, and Alba Rohrwacher.

Assuming that Jay Kelly is the name of a character in the film, it’s not immediately clear which of those actors will be playing the titular role.

Baumbach is producing Jay Kelly alongside Amy Pascal and David Heyman.

“Noah Baumbach’s got an excellent kind of Jerry Maguire-esque, for lack of a better analogy, but a really great life-affirming movie with two big movie stars that’s starting to come together, so that’ll be exciting,” Netflix’s Scott Stuber told Collider in November 2023.

Baumbach has an exclusive deal with Netflix. For the studio, he has so far made 2017’s The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected), 2019’s Marriage Story, and 2022’s White Noise. Baumbach is also known for directing 2002’s Highball, 2005’s The Squid and the Whale, 2010’s Greenberg, 2012’s Frances Ha, 2014’s While We’re Young, 2015’s Mistress America, and more. He has worked on the screenplays for 2004’s The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, 2009’s Fantastic Mr. Fox, 2012’s Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted and 2023’s Barbie.
