These films will likely get prime-time exposure before an audience of over 120 million viewers. However, James Gunn’s Superman trailer won’t be airing at the event.
Fantastic Four, The Smurfs to have trailers at Super Bowl LIX in 2025
Super Bowl LIX, scheduled for February 9, 2025, will feature major movie trailers from Disney, Paramount, and Universal. These studios are among the few investing $7.5 million to $8 million for a 30-second ad. Last year, the event drew 123.7 million viewers across live TV and streaming.
Disney dominated the 2024 domestic box office with $2.2 billion and plans to showcase two of three upcoming Marvel films: Captain America: Brave New World (February 14), Thunderbolts* (May 2), and Fantastic Four: The First Steps (July 25).
Other likely trailers include Snow White (March 21), Lilo & Stitch (May 23), and Pixar’s Elio (June 13). Disney often debuts first-looks for major summer films during the Super Bowl. Previous releases include Deadpool & Wolverine and Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Universal, which grossed $1.88 billion domestically in 2024, will likely present a trailer for Jurassic World Rebirth (July 2). The film, directed by Gareth Edwards, stars Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey.
Other expected trailers include How to Train Your Dragon (June 13) and M3GAN 2.0 (June 27). Universal previously promoted M3GAN with viral marketing, featuring live performances and public appearances.
Paramount is likely to air trailers for Mission: Impossible – Final Reckoning, Novocaine (March 14), and The Smurfs animated musical flick (July 18), which features Rihanna. Previous Mission: Impossible films received Super Bowl spots in 2018 and 2023, with Tom Cruise known for unexpected promotional stunts.
Sony, Warner Bros., Netflix, Amazon MGM, Lionsgate, and Apple Studios are likely skipping the Super Bowl. Warner Bros. last promoted The Flash during the event in 2023, while it released Superman trailers recently during the AFC and NFC championship games.
Per Deadline, last year’s most-watched Super Bowl trailer on social media was Deadpool & Wolverine (75.4M views, $211.4M opening), followed by Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (43.2M views, $58.4M opening) and Wicked (40.1M views, $112.5M opening). Super Bowl trailers continue to generate significant online engagement and impact box office performance.
