Golden Globe winner Awkwafina (The Farewell) has been tapped to join The Man With The Bag cast for Amazon MGM Studios‘ upcoming holiday comedy movie. Further details about her character are still undisclosed. This marks Awkwafina’s latest collaboration with the studio, after starring in Paul Feig’s 2024 action comedy Jackpot! with John Cena.
Besides The Man With The Bag, Awkwafina will next be seen in the new seasons of Peacock’s Poker Face and Netflix’s Black Mirror. She will also be reprising her MCU role as Katy in the highly-anticipated Disney+ animated series Marvel Zombies, which is set to debut on October 3, 2025.
Who will lead The Man With The Bag cast?
The Man With The Bag will be led by Arnold Schwarzenegger (Terminator franchise) as Santa Claus and Alan Ritchson (Reacher) as Vince. This marks Schwarzenegger’s first major movie project as the lead in a long while, after his appearances in 2019 movies Iron Mask and Terminator: Dark Fate. He recently lent his voice in the first installment of the video game anthology series Secret Level.
“When Santa’s magic bag is stolen, he turns to his naughty list to find Vance, a former thief, to help him get it back,” reads the film’s official synopsis. “Along with his daughter, Santa, and a group of misfit elves, Vance will have to pull off the greatest heist of his life to save Christmas.”
The film is being directed by Adam Shankman from a screenplay written by Allan Rice. It is produced by Ritchson, Lawrence Grey, Ben Everard, Reg Tigerman, and Dan Spilo. The holiday comedy is a production by Amazon MGM Studios.
