New Jedi Order, the upcoming Star Wars movie that will be focused on Daisy Ridley as Rey Skywalker, has found a new writer.
Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is making her narrative feature film debut with Star Wars: New Jedi Order. The movie is set after the events of 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and will follow Rey as she acts as a mentor to a new batch of Jedi. Further plot details are being kept under wraps at this time.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, George Nolfi has now been hired to write the script for the movie.
Nolfi previously wrote 2003’s Timeline, 2004’s Ocean’s Twelve, 2006’s The Sentinel (which he also produced) and 2007’s The Bourne Ultimatum. He made his feature film directorial debut in 2011 with The Adjustment Bureau before he then went on to make 2015’s Allegiance, 2016’s Brith of the Dragon, 2020’s The Banker, and 2024’s Elevation.
Nolfi wrote the screenplays he directed apart from Birth of the Dragon and Elevation. He also produced all those movies except for Elevation. Additionally, he wrote the screenplay for 2016’s Spectral.
What else do we know about the New Jedi Order Star Wars movie with Daisy Ridley?
Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson were previously working as writers on the project before Obaid-Chinoy was brought on. Peaky Blinder’s Steven Knight was also attached to it for a time.
“The script delays have pushed back any hoped for production starts for the project, which at one point was being eyed to follow the recently wrapped feature The Mandalorian and Grogu, which will be released May 22, 2026,” The Hollywood Reporter’s article notes. “Instead, the next Star Wars movie that will shoot will be the untitled project from director Shawn Levy.”
No release date for New Jedi Order has been announced at this time by Lucasfilm.
