Scary Movie Reboot Release Date Set for Wayans Brothers Comedy

A release date has been set for the new Scary Movie reboot from Paramount and Miramax.

Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, and Keenen Ivory Wayans are currently developing a new entry in the Scary Movie franchise. All three of them are writing the film together alongside Rick Alvarez, while Alverez is also producing.

When is the release date for the Scary Movie reboot?

On Instagram, Marlon Wayans announced that the new Scary Movie will be released in theaters on June 12, 2026.

Plot details remain under wraps at this time. No casting information has yet been announced.

“We are thrilled to reunite Scary Movie with the Wayans brothers, the brilliant creators behind the beloved franchise,” Miramax’s Jonathan Glickman said, via Deadline, when the project was first announced. “The timing is perfect to bring back the series to the big screen and we’re lucky to have Keenen, Marlon and Shawn’s unique comedic vision bringing it to audiences around the world.”

Marlon, Shawn, and Keenen added, “We couldn’t be more excited to be a part of the new Scary Movie and work with each other again. This is a franchise we created more than 20 years ago. We remember people laughing in the aisles and hope to see that happen again. We look forward to working with Jonathan Glickman and his team at the new Miramax to bring these laughs to theaters, where they belong. It’s a double reunion.”

The first Scary Movie was released in July 2000. A parody film that spoofs popular horror movies, it was directed by Keenen and was followed by four sequels: 2001’s Scary Movie 2, 2003’s Scary Movie 3, 2006’s Scary Movie 4, and 2013’s Scary Movie 5.

The first four movies saw Anna Faris play Cindy Campbell and Regina Hall play Brenda Meeks. Marlon Wayans starred as Shorty Meeks in the first two films, as did Shawn Wayans as Ray Wilkins.
