Captain America: Brave New World’s Budget Is Lower Than Deadpool & Wolverine’s

The budget for Captain America: Brave New World has been revealed and, while still as large as fans have come to expect from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it is far lower than the one that had been predicted earlier.

The release date of Captain America 4 is fast approaching and predictions have already been made about the film’s opening weekend box office, heightening fans’ interest in the production budget for the new MCU blockbuster.

Captain America: Brave New World spent $180 million on filming budget

According to a report by THR, the overall budget of Captain America: Brave New World stands at approximately $180 million. This is comparatively lower than the previous prediction by World of Reel, which stated that the movie cost around $275 million, with an extra $100 million spent on reshoots.

Jordan Ruimy of World of Reel stated in his report that Brave New World’s budget was estimated at around $350 million, including the cost of reshoots. This led to fans wondering whether the movie would be able to recover its production costs during its theatrical run. Ruimy stated, “It’s all amounting to what could be a catastrophic disaster for the mouse house.”

However, THR has now cleared up some of the confusion regarding the cost of Captain America 4. Additionally, the film is looking to make around $90 million to $95 million in its opening weekend, benefitting from the Valentine’s Day and President’s Day weekend. This is equal to what Captain America: Winter Soldier made in its opening weekend, but falls short of the $179 million mark hit by Civil War.

Captain America: Brave New World is Anthony Mackie’s first solo movie carrying the shield left by Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers in Avengers: Endgame. While speaking about getting promoted from Falcon to Captain America in the MCU, the actor told Deadline in November 2024, “Sam’s evolution is simple. He’s still a counselor. He’s still serving soldiers, but at the same time, now he’s a leader of his community in the country.”
