Dylan O’Brien & Rachel McAdams Are Plane Crash Survivors in Sam Raimi’s Send Help

Dylan O’Brien and Rachel McAdams are set to play two plane crash survivors in Sam Raimi’s new horror thriller movie, Send Help

Send Help will be produced and directed by Raimi, which will serve as his highly anticipated return to the world of horror. The filmmaker is known for his work in the Evil Dead franchise, the Tobey Maguire-led Spider-Man trilogy, Drag Me to Hell, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, among others.

It was first reported in July of last year that Raimi is returning to his horror roots with Send Help, which had not yet been greenlit by the studio at the time. It hails from 20th Century Studios based on a script by Baywatch screenwriters Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. Don’t Move, Boy Kills World, and 65’s co-producer Zainab Azizi will also produce the movie under the Raimi Productions banner.

What is Send Help about?

Per Deadline’s report, Send Help — described as a “two-hander” survival horror thriller — will center on two colleagues, who find themselves stranded on a deserted island after surviving a plane crash. They must work together and use their wits to survive and make it out alive. The movie is said to be a combination of Rob Reiner’s Misery and Robert Zemeckis’s Castaway.

O’Brien first gained mainstream attention for his portrayal of Stiles Stilinski in MTV’s hit supernatural drama Teen Wolf. It wasn’t until 2014 that the actor rose to greater prominence when he starred as Thomas in The Maze Runner trilogy. He most recently starred in the thriller movie Ponyboi, the biographical comedy-drama Saturday Night, and the M. Night Shyamalan-produced thriller Caddo Lake.

Some of O’Brien’s notable credits include American Assassin, Love and Monsters, All Too Well: The Short Film, and Not Okay.

McAdams, whose early acting credits include Perfect Pie and The Hot Chick, rose to fame in 2004 with the teen comedy Mean Girls and the Nicholas Sparks adaptation The Notebook. The actress also starred in Wedding Crashers, Red Eye, The Time Traveler’s Wife, Sherlock Holmes, Midnight in Paris, Doctor Strange, About Time, Spotlight, Southpaw, Game Night, and more.

Send Help is aiming to nab a theatrical release.
