Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan has shared his next dream role, ahead of the upcoming theatrical release of Universal Pictures’ action thriller Love Hurts on February 7, 2025. This serves as his first major leading man project after the critical success of Everything Everywhere All at Once.
What is Ke Huy Quan’s dream role?
In a recent interview, Quan has expressed his desire to play a villain in his next potential project after being known for his funny and nice guy roles. He revealed that he’s open to any kind of bad guy character because he’s ready to go out of his comfort zone.
“I would love to play a bad guy. Like a Bond villain,” Quan said (via Empire). “Or the kind of thing Hugh Grant does in Heretic. I want to go out of my comfort zone and just play this diabolical, really bad guy,” he laughs. “That would be a lot of fun.”
Love Hurts is directed by veteran stunt and fight coordinator JoJo Eusebio from a screenplay written by Matthew Murray, Josh Stoddard, and Luke Passmore. The film also stars Ariana DeBose (West Side Story), Daniel Wu (Tomb Raider), Marshawn “Beast Mode” Lynch (Bottoms), Mustafa Shakir (Emancipation), Lio Tipton (Lucy), Rhys Darby (Jumanji: The Next Level), André Eriksen (Violent Night) and Sean Astin (The Lord of the Rings trilogy). It is produced by Kelly McCormick and David Leitch, with Ben Orman executive producing.
“The film follows Marvin Gable, a realtor working the Milwaukee suburbs, where ‘For Sale’ signs bloom. Gable receives a crimson envelope from Rose, a former partner-in-crime that he had left for dead. She’s not happy,” reads the official synopsis. “Now, Marvin is thrust back into a world of ruthless hitmen, filled with double-crosses and open houses turned into deadly warzones. With his brother Knuckles, a volatile crime lord, hunting him, Marvin must confront the choices that haunt him and the history he never truly buried.”
