Donald Trump Announces Mel Gibson & More Will Be Hollywood’s ‘Special Ambassadors’

Donald Trump has named Jon Voight, Sylvester Stallone, and Mel Gibson as “special ambassadors” of Hollywood.

Voight, Stallone, and Gibson, all of whom have vocally supported Trump in the past, have been tapped by the President-elect to be his “eyes and ears” in Hollywood, California, in the years to come.

What did Donald Trump say about Jon Voight, Sylvester Stallone, and Mel Gibson?

Trump wrote on Truth Social on Thursday, “It is my honor to announce Jon Voight, Mel Gibson, and Sylvester Stallone, to be Special Ambassadors to a great but very troubled place, Hollywood, California. They will serve as Special Envoys to me for the purpose of bringing Hollywood, which has lost much business over the last four years to Foreign Countries, BACK—BIGGER, BETTER, AND STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE! These three very talented people will be my eyes and ears, and I will get done what they suggest. It will again be, like The United States of America itself, The Golden Age of Hollywood!”

Per The Hollywood Reporter, “It remains unknown specifically what the actors’ roles will be in boosting production in the country.”

Gibson was blacklisted from Hollywood for roughly a decade for antisemitic comments. He then directed Andrew Garfield in Hacksaw Ridge in 2016 while his next directorial effort, Flight Risk, releases in theaters later this month. In recent years, he has also starred in movies such as 2020’s Fatman, 2022’s Father Stu, and 2024’s Monster Summer.

Stallone, who recently called Trump the “second George Washington” during an event in November, is known for playing Rocky Balboa in the Rocky franchise, John Rambo in the Rambo films, and more. He recently co-wrote the script for David Ayer’s new movie, A Working Man, which comes out in March.

Voight has notably been outspoken about his conservatism after he initially adopted liberal views earlier in life. He played Hamilton Crassus III in Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis last year, while he also starred as Viktor Petrovich in the Ronald Reagan biopic, Reagan, which was released last August.
