Jake Busey and Charlotte Kirk will star in a new horror comedy movie about murderous feral cats called CATnip.
CATnip is a new horror action comedy movie starring Busey and Kirk. ComingSoon can exclusively announce that the movie will begin filming next month in Los Angeles. A release date has not yet been set.
What is CATnip about?
“Jake Busey and Charlotte Kirk lead the cast as detectives investigating a group of eclectic people in an apartment building on Christmas Eve, who need to band together to survive the night against a horde of feral killer cats,” the synopsis reads.
Along with Busey (The Predator, Starship Troopers) and Kirk (The Reckoning, The Lair), CATnip stars Geoffrey Arend (500 Days of Summer), Lorelei Linklater (American Trash), Brooke Bundy (A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master), Tiffany Helm (Friday the 13th: A New Beginning), Kylee Levien (Roswell Delirium), Lord Kraven (S.W.A.T.) and Christian Calloway (Destroy All Neighbors).
The film is directed by Nyle Cavazos Garcia, who made his feature film directorial debut in 2004 with a movie titled Clean. Cavazos Garcia also directed 2015’s Dark Passenger: Volume 1. Cavazos Garcia wrote the script for CATnip and produces the movie alongside Rob Margolies and Keli Price.
A Kickstarter campaign that raised over $69,000 for the film’s production describes CATnip as “Gremlins for grown-ups.”
A longer synopsis further reads, “The Betancourt family has just moved from the projects of New York City to an up-and-coming neighborhood in San Pedro, CA, hoping for a fresh start and better life. Immediately, they feel like outcasts and are not welcomed by their eclectic neighbors as they had hoped. A thick, dangerous fog from LA Harbor forces everybody to stay indoors on Christmas Eve, and things go quickly from bad to worse when the apartment building is overtaken by a horde of blood-thirsty, feral killer cats. Now the family and their new neighbors must band together and overcome their differences if they are going to fend off the cats and survive until Christmas morning.”
