Ariana Grande is teasing Glinda’s new song in Wicked: For Good.
Wicked was released in United States theaters in November 2024. A sequel, Wicked: For Good, is now scheduled to arrive in November 2025.
It was previously announced that Wicked: For Good will include new music that was not featured in the original Broadway play. Speaking with Variety, Grande teased a brand-new song, written by Stephen Schwartz, that she’ll be performing as Glinda.
What did Ariana Grande say about her Wicked: For Good song?
“It’s a pivotal moment in Glinda’s journey,” Grande said. “It shows a side of her we’ve never seen before. In the stage show, this transformation happens offstage. But in the movie, we get to see her make the decision that defines who she is. It’s a privilege to sing this song and be the first Glinda to bring it to life.”
Grande also said, “Shooting For Good was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. It was such a long and emotional process. I kind of left my body. We filmed it over the course of a week, and it stayed with me. I haven’t even seen the final cut yet because I’m not sure I’m ready to feel all of it again.”
Regarding working with Jon M. Chu, who directed both Wicked and Wicked: For Good, Grande commented, “He’s a masterful artist. There’s so much nuance to Glinda, especially in ‘No One Mourns the Wicked.’ She’s grieving her best friend while putting on a brave face for the people of Oz. It’s a scene about loss, guilt, and forgiveness, and Jon helped me find the balance between those layers.”
Both Wicked movies also star Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba Thropp, Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero Tigelaar, Ethan Slater as Boq Woodsman, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, and Jeff Goldblum as The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Wicked: For Good will be released in United States theaters on November 21, 2025.
