Captain America: Brave New World was initially set to feature WWE superstar Seth Rollins in a role, but the wrestler recently confirmed rumors that his role had been cut from the movie.
Speaking with Chris Van Vliet in a recent interview, Rollins confirmed various reports that had begun surfacing that his character’s role had been cut from the movie.
“It releases in February. I wish it the best, but I am not a part of that film,” Rollins said. “Truth be told, any answer I gave would only be my opinion on it. The script went through a lot of rewrites and reshoots so what I was there to do, essentially my role got either repurposed or completely erased.”
What did Rollins say about his part in Captain America: Brave New World?
Rollins went on to say that Marvel Studios tried their best to keep him in the movie as edits and changes were being made, even bringing him back to audition again for a different role. However, in the end, they weren’t able to find a new part for him.
“I’m not exactly sure on what it was, but they ended up going in a different direction with it,” said Rollins. “And yeah my understanding was there were just a lot of rewrites and a lot of reshoots, and they know they’ve got a finished product that hopefully they’re happy with, and hopefully it’s successful, but it will be sans Seth Rollins.”
Marvel’s Captain America: Brave New World releases in United States theaters on February 14, 2025.
Brave New World is set to star Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America, Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres/Falcon, Harrison Ford in the role of Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, who is also known as Red Hulk. The Ross character was previously played by William Hurt in the MCU; however, Hurt passed away in March 2022.
