The Viola Davis-led action thriller G20 has officially found a release date, with Amazon revealing when the film will arrive on Prime Video.
When is the G20 release date?
G20’s release date has been set for April 10, 2025, when the film will launch on Prime Video across 240 territories. The film sees Davis play the role of the President of the United States, who must do all she can after the G20 summit comes under siege.
“This is Viola Davis as you’ve never seen her—heroically kicking tons of ass in a global thrill ride,” said director Patricia Riggen in a statement. “With G20, I wanted to make the kind of classic, edge-of-your-seat action film that I’ve always been such a fan of, but one that draws on the high stakes of our modern and technologically advanced world we live in. I hope to give audiences an experience that will captivate them from start to finish.”
Alongside Davis, the G20 ensemble cast includes Marsai Martin, Ramón Rodríguez, Douglas Hodge, Elizabeth Marvel, Sabrina Impacciatore, Clark Gregg, Christopher Farrar, John Hoogenakker, MeeWha Alana Lee, Theo Bongani Ndyalvane, Conrad Kemp, Joseph Steven Yang, Emmanuel Castis, David James, Noxolo Dlamini, and Gideon Emery. They will be joining Oscar winner Viola Davis, who will be playing the U.S. president.
“In the film, after the G20 Summit gets overtaken by terrorists, American president Taylor Sutton must bring all her statecraft and military experience to defend her family, her fellow leaders, and, of course, the world,” reads the synopsis.
G20 will be directed by Patricia Riggen from a screenplay written by Noah and Logan Miller with revisions from Caitlin Parrish and Erica Weiss. The action thriller was originally slated to start production last year, but was delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA. Even though the project received an Interim Agreement, filming didn’t pushed through after Davis refused to act during the actors’ strike in solidarity with other others.
The film is produced by Davis and Julius Tennon of JuVee Productions, along with Andrew Lazar of Mad Chance. It is a production by Amazon MGM Studios and MRC Film.
