Robert Eggers has several films in the works, and recently revealed that he’s asked Willem Dafoe to be in two of them.
Speaking during a recent appearance for Konbini’s Video Club series, Eggers said that he’s offered two roles in two different projects to Dafoe, but didn’t reveal what they were and hinted that neither project was confirmed as of yet.
“I am just one of the luckiest people on planet Earth, because Willem Dafoe likes working with me,” said Eggers. “I offered him two roles in two other movies last week, and hopefully one or both of them gets made.”
What do we know about Robert Eggers’ next movies?
Eggers and Dafoe have become no strangers to working together. The pair first collaborated after Dafoe met with Eggers after seeing 2015’s The Witch.
In 2019, Dafoe starred in Eggers’ film The Lighthouse, opposite Robert Pattinson. In 2022, the pair would collaborate again, as Dafoe appeared in The Northman. He also appears in Eggers’ most recent film, 2024’s Nosferatu, as Professor Albin Eberhart Von Franz, a character based on Van Helsing from Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
Details of Eggers’ next film are mostly unknown as of now. A recent report suggests that Eggers has been tapped to direct a new Labyrinth movie. Eggers himself has also spoken about wanting to make a medieval movie known right now as The Knight, as well as one day hoping to make a Western film. He’s also been rumored to be working on a miniseries about Grigori Rasputin, the Russian mystic and faith healer.
