A24 has announced a release date for Marty Supreme.
Marty Supreme is the forthcoming ping-pong movie starring Timothée Chalamet. Directed by Josh Safdie, it also stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Tyler the Creator, Fran Drescher, and more.
When is the release date for Marty Supreme?
Per Deadline, Marty Supreme will be released in United States theaters on December 25, 2025.
The news comes shortly after it was announced that Paul Feig’s The Housemaid, which stars Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried, will also be released on Christmas 2025. An Amazon MGM Studios movie titled Sarah’s Oil is also scheduled to be released on the same day, as are untitled movies from both Universal and Angel Studios.
Just one week prior to that, James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash will be released in United States theaters, along with a new SpongeBob movie and a Warner Bros. event film.
Marty Supreme is co-written by Safdie and Ronald Bronstein. The cast also includes enn Jillette, Odessa A’zion, Kevin O’Leary, Abel Ferrera, and Sandra Bernard. Safdie, Bronstein, and Chalamet serve as producers alongside Eli Bush, Anthony Katagas, and A24.
“The movie was rumored to be a biopic about iconoclastic ping-pong player Marty Reisman, and now we’re hearing it’s not exactly that,” Deadline’s article states. “More loosely based. The pic is being billed as a cross between Wolf of Wall Street and Catch Me If You Can.”
Chalamet’s latest movie, A Complete Unknown, is opening in theaters on December 25, 2024. He plays Bob Dylan in the biographical drama, which is directed by James Mangold.
Safdie made his feature film directorial debut in 2008 with The Pleasure of Being Robbed. He went on to direct a handful of movies alongside his brother, Benny, including 2017’s Good Time and 2019’s Uncut Gems. They’ve since decided to embark on solo projects, as Benny is now working on The Smashing Machine with Dwayne Johnson.
