Briarcliff Entertainment has announced the official Magazine Dreams release date for the upcoming bodybuilding drama starring Emmy nominee Jonathan Majors. The film was originally scheduled for a 2023 theatrical release. However, due to Majors’ legal troubles, it was indefinitely delayed by Searchlight Pictures. The studio ultimately exited the project, and reverted the distribution rights back to its filmmakers.
“Dozens of incredibly talented people poured their time, energy and creativity into bringing this film to life, and I am immensely proud of their work,” director Elijah Bynum said in a statement. “I’m grateful to Tom Ortenberg and Briarcliff Entertainment for their unwavering support, passion, and for giving this film the opportunity to reach a wider audience.”
When is the Magazine Dreams release date?
Magazine Dreams will finally arrive in theaters on March 21, 2025. Since its world premiere at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, the film has received an 82% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 95 reviews. Before Majors was plagued by assault allegations, critics originally thought that his performance in the same movie would land him a spot in the Best Actor race.
“Aspiring bodybuilder Killian Maddox struggles to find human connection in this exploration of celebrity and violence,” reads the film’s synopsis. “Nothing deters him from his fiercely protected dream of superstardom, not even the doctors who warn him of the permanent damage he causes to himself with his quest.”
Magazine Dreams is written and directed by Elijah Bynum. It stars Jonathan Majors as Killian Maddox, Haley Bennett as Jessie, Taylour Paige as Pink Coat, Mike O’Hearn as Brad Vanderhorn, Harrison Page as William Lattimore, Bradley Stryker as Ken Donaghue, and Harriet Sansom Harris. It is produced by Jennifer Fox, Dan Gilroy, Jeffrey Soros, and Simon Horsman.
