A movie based on Clayface, the iconic Batman villain, has been approved to go into production soon by the DC Studios, with a script crafted by Mike Flanagan. Clayface is one of the most memorable villains of The Caped Crusader that has appeared in several comics, and animated TV shows of DC. Originally, Clayface made his debut in June 1940 in DC Comics in issue #40. The villain was crafted by Bon Kane and Bill Finger.

As per reports, a source has recently revealed that DC Studios might be working on a full-fledged movie of Clayface.
Additionally, the studio is bringing Mike Flanagan on board to write the film’s script, the source claims to Variety. The Doctor Sleep director has created a reputation for himself with his excellent work in the horror genre. Although, the details of the movie’s story are still kept a secret and the filming process might start in 2025.
Clayface has officially made his appearance in the new DC Universe with the recently released animated show, Creature Commandos. In the Max series, Clayface is voiced by none other than actor Alan Tudyk. He is also voicing Doctor Phosphorus in the same series. However, whether he will be the one to bring the character to life in live-action is still a mystery. DC has not yet commented on the Clayface movie reportedly going into works.
As reported before, a Clayface movie was previously pitched to the DC Studios by none other than Flanagan. The filmmaker revealed this information in a podcast episode with Script Apart. He said, “I went into Warner Bros. to have the meeting about DC.” Flanagan added that the meeting was with producer Jon Berg on whether he can be assigned a project in the DCEU. He told them, “I really want[ed] to do Clayface.”
Flanagan further disclosed how he wanted to make the Clayface movie “horror-leaning” and pitched that to the producers. He also stated that if Clayface was not greenlit he would be open to doing one on “Scarecrow and Justice League Dark and Constantine.” However, the result of the meeting wasn’t in Flanagan’s favor as “[Berg] didn’t really grab onto any of that stuff.”
