Rockwell is known for starring in movies such as 1999’s Galaxy Quest, 2010’s Iron Man 2, 2017’s Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, and more. Schwartz, meanwhile, voices the titular hedgehog in Paramount’s Sonic film franchise, while he’s also had notable roles in Parks and Recreation, DuckTales, and other titles.
Now, per Deadline, the two will be starring in a new comedy together.
What do we know about DNA with Sam Rockwell and Ben Schwartz?
Plot details for DNA are being kept under wraps at this time. Schwartz wrote the screenplay for the movie, while Taccone will produce it alongside Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Ali Bell. Schwartz and Rockwell will serve as executive producers.
Taccone previously directed 2010’s MacGruber and co-directed 2016’s Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping alongside Schaffer. He is working on another movie titled The Trip, which does not yet have a release date, and has also helmed episodes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Miracle Workers, The Last O.G., Knuckles, and more.
On X, Schwartz said about DNA, “I had an idea for a movie. OSCAR AWARD WINNER Sam Rockwell heard the idea and said he would very much like to act in that movie with me. The incredible people at @searchlightpics thought it would be a fun idea to try to make said movie with us. I wrote a series of drafts that Party Over Here enjoyed and they jumped in like heroes to produce. And then like a shining beacon of light @jormataccone said that he would very much like to direct said movie. And I am soaring through the sky with excitement at our team. It’s not like anything else I’ve ever written. And Jorma is going to make it so special. We are calling it DNA. And when the time is right, I can’t wait to tell you more…”
DNA will be released through Searchlight Pictures. A release date has not yet been set.
