James Gunn’s Superman movie is now having test screenings.
Superman will be released in United States theaters in 2025. The first official feature film set within Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU, Superman stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent while Rachel Brosnahan is playing Lois Lane.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gunn is currently in the process of screen-testing the DCU movie.
Speaking with the outlet, Gunn said he believes Corenswet is going to “freak everyone out with how great he is” when the film flies into theaters next July.
“Honestly, from the bottom of my heart, David Corenswet is going to freak everyone out with how great he is,” Gunn said. “He is one of the best actors I’ve ever worked with, and he can do everything. The man is incredible.”

Along with Corenswet and Brosnahan, Superman stars Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, María Gabriela de Faría as Angela Spica/The Engineer, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Pruitt Taylor Vince as Jonathan Kent, Neva Howell as Martha Kent, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt/Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, Christopher McDonald as Ron Troupe, and more.
Superman will be released in United States theaters on July 11, 2025, from Warner Bros. Pictures. It is set in the DCU’s first chapter, which is titled “Gods and Monsters.”
The DCU officially launches tomorrow with the two-episode premiere of Creature Commandos on Max. Peacemaker Season 2 will follow Superman in August 2025, while Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow has been given a June 26, 2026 release date. Gunn previously said that Lanterns will likely premiere around the same time as Supergirl’s release.
