David Spade & Theo Von Are Busboys in New Comedy Movie

Emmy nominee David Spade (Just Shoot Me!, Grown Ups) and stand-up comedian Theo Von (Reality Bites Back) will lead upcoming buddy comedy Busboys. Production is currently scheduled to begin on January 10, 2025 in Los Angeles.

“Set in a border town in Arizona, the film follows David and Theo, two friends who think becoming waiters will solve all of their problems. They are wrong,” reads the initial synopsis.

Who is involved in Busboys?

Busboys will be directed by Jonah Feingold from a screenplay written by Spade and Von. In addition to leading the cast, the comedic duo are also serving as producers alongside Robert Ogden Barnum. They are also self-financing the project.

“We are looking forward to gracing everyone with this comedy that no one asked for,” Spade in a statement (via Variety).

This marks Spade’s first movie project as the lead in a long while, after starring in 2020’s Netflix comedy The Wrong Missy. Besides Busboys, the Saturday Night Live vet will also next be seen in Jonah Hill’s next directorial movie Outcome, with Cameron Diaz and Keanu Reeves. He is also currently attached to star in Diablo Cody’s untitled HBO series about a musician and recovering addicts who unexpectedly becomes friends with a young actress.

Von is best known as the host of the This Past Weekend podcast. He first gained recognition by appearing in several reality shows during the 2000s, including MTV’s The Challenge game show, NBC’s Last Comic Standing Season 4, and Comedy Central’s comedy competition show Reality Bites Back.
