Anne Hathaway has been cast in a feature film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s Verity.
Hathaway recently starred alongside Nicholas Galitzine in 2024’s The Idea of You, a movie directed by Wet Hot American Summer’s Michael Showalter that is based on the Robinne Lee novel of the same name.
Hathaway has now signed on to star in Amazon MGM Studios’ adaptation of Verity, which was written by Hoover and self-published in 2018. Showalter will direct the film.
What do we know about Amazon’s Verity movie with Anne Hathaway?
“The story follows, Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer who is on the brink of financial ruin when she accepts the job offer of a lifetime,” the synopsis reads. “Jeremy Crawford, husband of bestselling thriller author Verity Crawford (Hathaway), has hired Ashleigh to complete the remaining books in a successful series that his wife is unable to finish after a mysterious accident. Upon arrival at the lavish Crawford estate, Ashleigh slowly learns that things are not exactly as they seem with the discovery of a secret, unfinished manuscript that may divulge chilling admissions about the family’s past. As Lowen ingratiates herself with Jeremy and his young son Crew, she must discern if Verity’s writings are merely lurid works of fiction or an ominous warning by a deranged psychopath.”
The script for Verity is written by Nick Antosca, while previous drafts came from Hillary Seitz, Angela LaManna, Will Honley, and April Maguire.
Antosca also serves as a producer on the movie alongside Showalter, Hathaway, Hoover, Alex Hedlund, Jordana Mollick, and Stacey Sher. Lauren Levine serves as an executive producer.
Verity does not yet have an official release date from Amazon MGM Studios at this time; although, it is known that the movie will play in United States theaters rather than debut on a streaming service.
