Avengers: Secret Wars will lead into the MCU’s age of mutants and X-Men, says Kevin Feige.
Avengers: Secret Wars will be released in 2027. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the ensemble Marvel movie will feature the cast of The Fantastic Four: First Steps and Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom.
Speaking at Singapore’s Disney APAC Content Showcase, via Deadline, Feige shared some details about The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Secret Wars, X-Men, and more.
Kevin Feige discusses X-Men and the future of the MCU
“Finally, [we’re] bringing Marvel’s First Family into the MCU,” Feige said. “They wrap next week, the movie comes out next summer, and then all those characters go right into the next Avengers movies, so I’m very excited for the future of the Fantastic Four.”
The cast of The Fantastic Four: First Steps includes Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing. Ralph Ineson is playing Galactus and Julia Garner has been tapped to star as Shalla-Bal/Silver Surfer, while the cast also includes Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, and Natasha Lyonne.
After The Fantastic Four: First Steps but before Avengers: Secret Wars comes Avengers: Doomsday, which is also being directed by the Russo Brothers.
Feige hinted that the next few Marvel Studios movies might feature some “X-Men players that you might recognize.” Avengers: Secret Wars, however, will be the gateway that brings mutants into the MCU.
“Right after that, the whole story of Secret Wars really leads us into a new age of mutants and of the X-Men,” Feige said. “Again, [it’s] one of those dreams come true. We finally have the X-Men back.”
Official plot details for Avengers: Secret Wars remain under wraps at this time. The film currently has a May 7, 2027, release date.
