Angelina Jolie has been cast in Alice Winocour’s Stitches.
Jolie recently played Maria Callas in Pablo Larraín’s Maria, which will be released in select United States theaters later this month before it arrives on Netflix on December 11, 2024.
Now, per Variety, Jolie has found her next project: Playing a filmmaker in Winocour’s Stitches.
What do we know about Stitches with Angelina Jolie?
Not much is known about the plot for Stitches; though Variety reports that it is “set in the world of high fashion and unfolds in Paris.” Jolie is playing a filmmaker who is “one of three women whose lives will collide during Fashion Week.”
Production on Stitches is expected to begin next year and the movie will be shot in both French and English. CG Cinema is producing the movie in partnership with Zhang Xin and William Horberg of Closer Media.
Winocour is known for making 2019’s Proxima, which starred Eva Green, Matt Dillon, Zélie Boulant-Lemesle, Sandra Hüller, and Lars Eidinger. Her 2012 movie Augstine, which was Winocour’s feature film directorial debut, was nominated for the Caméra d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival, while her filmography also includes 2015’s Disorder and 2022’s Paris Memories.
Jolie, who is now earning Oscar buzz for her performance in Maria won the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for her performance as Lisa Rowe in James Mangold’s Girl, Interrupted. She was also nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award after starring in 2008’s Changeling.
Jolie’s filmography additionally includes 2001’s Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (and the 2003 sequel Lara Croft: Tomb Raider — The Cradle of Life), 2005’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith, 2006’s The Good Shepherd, 2008’s Wanted, 2010’s Salt, 2014’s Maleficent (and the 2019 sequel Maleficent: Mistress of Evil), 2021’s Those Who Wish Me Dead, 2021’s Eternals, and more.
A release date has not yet been announced for Stitches.
