Renny Harlin (Die Hard 2, The Strangers) is officially directing the upcoming The Beast movie written by Umair Aleem (Kate). Harlin is replacing previously announced director James Madigan (The Meg), who was initially attached to helm the project.
“Having been a fan of Renny’s classic films as far back as I can remember and now helping him reteam with Sam Jackson who together created numerous audience pleasers and then adding the stunning artist that is Joel Kinnaman, I have no doubt this film will become yet another classic from this duo,” producer Keith Kjarval said in a statement.
Who will lead The Beast movie?
The Beast movie is an action thriller led by Marvel vet Samuel L. Jackson and Suicide Squad star Joel Kinnaman, with Jackson playing the U.S. President and Kinnaman taking on the role of a Secret Service agent. It is produced by Keith Kjarval, John Logan Pierson, Peter Berg, Adrian Guerra, Wayne Marc Godfrey, and Nicki Cortese.
“When a militia of unidentified hostiles coordinates a coup against the U.S., the president uncovers the extent of The Beast’s highly classified offensive capabilities,” reads the synopsis. “Separated from his wife, the president must learn to control The Beast — and the monster inside himself — in order to save his life, the life of Secret Service agent Taft and America.”
The film hails from Unified Pictures, Fifth Season, and Film 44 production. It is executive produced by Aleem, Ben Ruffman, Johanna Harlin, Alexis Garcia, Chase Vergari, Ibrahim Mohammed, Chris Bremble, Eric Handler, Dru Davis, Christian Juptner, Molly C. Quinn, Matthew M. Welty, Elan Gale, Gianni Benvenuto, Dominic Benvenuto, Herbert L. Kloiber, Malte Ludin and James Copp.
