Denzel Washington teases why his kiss got cut from Gladiator 2

The Oscar-winning actor has been going around on promotional tours along with the rest of his cast to promote Gladiator 2.

While he was recently speaking to the outlet Gayety in a recent interview, Denzel Washington revealed information regarding a scene where he locked lips with a man. However, he stated that the scene did not make it to the final cut. Washington shared, “I actually kissed a man in the film but they took it out, they cut it, I think they got chicken. I kissed a guy full on the lips and I guess they weren’t ready for that yet. I killed him about five minutes later. It’s ‘Gladiator.’ It’s the kiss of death.”

The script of Gladiator 2 reportedly states that the description of Washington’s character Macrinus reveals that he, a powerbroker, has a history of relationships with several men. This is the actor’s second collaboration with Ridley Scott after their work on the 2007 movie American Gangster. Gladiator 2 is the sequel to the first movie, released in 2000. It featured a star cast led by Russell Crowe, Joaquin Phoenix, and many more.

Recently, Denzel Washington has also hinted at his retirement from acting. While communicating his thoughts to Australia’s Today Show, he said, “I don’t know how many more films I’m going to make. It’s probably not that many. I want to do things I haven’t done.”
