Game of Thrones: George R.R. Martin Teases New Project With Maisie Williams

In a recent update, author George R.R. Martin has hinted at working with actress Maisie Williams on a project, possibly related to their previous on-screen collaboration on Game of Thrones. Created by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, the said series concluded its run in 2019 with its eighth and final installment. Since then, Williams has been absent from the Game of Thrones universe, which could potentially change if Martin’s comments are anything to go by.

The veteran novelist stated that he recently caught up with Maisie Williams to discuss what could be a Game of Thrones project. However, he refrained from revealing any details regarding the contents of their meeting.

Martin shared the said update through his official blog while recounting his recent travels in London. “We also got together with Maisie Williams for pizza and pasta, and talked about — well, no, better not get into that, do not want to jinx it,” the author noted. While he did not divulge any specific information about the project, Martin did say that “it could be so much fun.”

As such, many have speculated that George R.R. Martin could be talking about working with Maisie Williams on a Game of Thrones movie. The said film was recently confirmed by HBO CEO Casey Bloys, who conveyed that the project is currently in the development stage during a press event. However, this angle is purely speculative at the moment as neither HBO nor Martin has divulged any detail regarding its plot.

Following the premiere of the Game of Thrones finale, HBO has released a spin-off series, titled House of the Dragon. The show recently finished its second season, garnering an overly positive response from critics and audiences alike. The entertainment giants have also confirmed another prequel series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which will take place one century before the events of Game of Thrones.
