Benedict Cumberbatch has joined the cast of Guy Ritchie’s Wife & Dog.
Wife & Dog is a forthcoming feature film that is written and directed by Ritchie. It’s one of several projects he currently has in the works alongside In the Grey, which will be released next year, and Fountain of Youth, which does not yet have a release date.
Cumberbatch has now joined the cast of Wife & Dog. Additionally, Anthony Hopkins and Rosamund Pike will star in the movie, which comes from Black Bear.
What do we know about Guy Ritchie’s Wife & Dog?
Plot details are being kept under wraps at this time; however, Black Bear describes it as a “return to the colorful, back-stabbing world of the British aristocracy Richie explored in The Gentlemen film and TV series.”
The Gentlemen, which was also written and directed by Ritchie, was released in January 2020. It stars Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam, Henry Golding, Michelle Dockery, Jeremy Strong, Eddie Marsan, Colin Farrell, and Hugh Grant.
A spin-off series, which is also titled The Gentlemen, then arrived on Netflix in March 2024. The show, which has been renewed for a second season, stars Theo James, Kaya Scodelario, Daniel Ings, and Vinnie Jones.
Ritchie is producing Wife & Dog alongside Ivan Atkinson and Black Bear’s John Friedberg, while Teddy Schwarzman and Michael Heimler serve as executive producers. Black Bear launched sales on the movie earlier this year at the Cannes Film Festival. Principal photography is expected to begin in February 2025 in the United Kingdom.
Wife & Dog marks the third collaboration between Ritchie, Atkinson, and Black Bear following 2024’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare and In the Grey. In the Grey will hit United States theaters on January 17, 2025.
A release date for Wife & Dog has not yet been announced.
