Avatar 3 Concept Art Reveals Fire and Ash’s Red Na’vi People

Despite debuting on the big screens way back in 2009, James Cameron’s Avatar franchise continues to dominate headlines to this day. The sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water, premiered in 2022 and matched the success of its predecessor. As such, excitement for its third installment is currently at an all-time high. Avatar 3, AKA Avatar: Fire and Ash, set to release in 2025, will effectively expand the already-established universe of Pandora, introducing the audiences to the Red Navi civilization. Fans recently got the chance to glance at the new aspects of the much-awaited Avatar 3, through the movie’s first concept art.

The recently released images provided a glimpse into what the Red Navi citizens could look like in the upcoming Avatar 3. The snippets also highlighted their ashy terrain, as well as their seemingly sentient airships.

The creative team behind Avatar: Fire and Ash launched the project’s first concept art at the recently concluded D23 event in Brazil. In the reveal, a total of five images showcasing new looks of Pandora’s previously unexplored settings saw the light of day. One of the said conceptual pictures demonstrated an ashy terrain, which would supposedly serve as the settlement for the Red Na’vi people in Avatar 3.

The Avatar 3 concept art also introduced specialized air-borne creatures, flaunting their unique design in full glory. James Cameron defines the Red Na’vi civilization as a “reflection of the worst side of Na’vi,” according to ComicBook.com. Since the reveal, many fans have criticized the filmmaker for heavily using Avatar – The Last Airbender as the inspiration for his elemental setup.

Avatar: Fire and Ash is currently scheduled to hit the big screens on December 19, 2025. However, plot details regarding the film remain under wraps at the time of writing.
