Academy Award-winning actor Russell Crowe is set to once again battle the Roman Empire in a new project called The Last Druid.
Per the plot description, The Last Druid “tells the story of a Roman Emperor who discovers a secluded Druid stronghold in the mountains of Caledonia. A peaceful Celtic elder must awaken the warrior within to protect his family and people from total annihilation.”
Who’s directing The Last Druid?
Underwater filmmaker Will Eubank is set to direct The Last Druid from a script he wrote alongside Phil Gawthorne and Carlyle Eubank. Eubank’s directorial credits include Love, The Signal, Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin, and Land of Bad. In addition to The Last Druid, Eubank is also set to direct the thriller movie The Epiphany.
The project will be produced by Ben Pugh, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Fred Berger, and Adrián Guerra, with Brandon Millan, Sam Wasson, and George Hsieh executive producing.
The Last of Druid will serve as Crowe’s next collaboration with Eubank, having previously worked with the director in the action thriller Land of Bad opposite Liam Hemsworth, Luke Hemsworth, Ricky Whittle, and Milo Ventimiglia.
Crowe is best known for his role as Maximus in the 2000 Ridley Scott historical epic Gladiator, for which he won an Academy Award for Best Actor. Some of the actor’s best-starring roles include A Beautiful Mind as John Nash, The Insider as Jeffrey, L.A. Confidential as Bud, Cinderella Man as Jim Braddock, The Next Three Days as John Brennan, American Gangster as Richie, Les Misérables as Inspector Javert, and The Nice Guys as Jackson Healy.
Crowe’s recent feature credits include Unhinged, Thor: Love and Thunder, Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcher, The Greatest Beer Run Ever, Poker Face, The Pope’s Exorcist, Sleeping Dogs, and The Exorcism.
He can next be seen as Nikolai Kravinoff in Kraven the Hunter and Hermann Göring in Nuremberg.
