Academy Award-winning actor Ke Huy Quan is set to star in the upcoming Lionsgate action thriller Fairytale in New York, an upcoming film from director Jalmari Helander.
What is Fairytale in New York about?
The film is set to take place on Christmas Eve in New York City, and will follow the story of an unassuming cab driver. He decides to take one last ride before heading home to celebrate with his estranged son.
However, the cab driver gets into a run-in with a gang of criminals, and will have to embark “on a relentless pursuit to retrieve his kid’s priceless Christmas gift,” reads the film’s official logline.
Helander is most well-known for his historical action thriller Sisu, which released wide in 2023 and told the story of a Finnish man fighting against the Nazis. The film was a Midnight Mass selection at TIFF, and released to positive reviews, earning more than $14 million at the box office.
Ke Huy Quan is a legend in the world of Hollywood, and is best known for his childhood roles in films, including playing Short Round in the Indiana Jones franchise, as well as Data in 1985’s The Goonies. Following a 19-year acting hiatus, Quan returned and starred in 2022’s Everything Everywhere All at Once, which catapulted his career to superstardom and earned him an Academy Award.
Recently, Quan starred in the second season of the Disney+/Marvel Studios series Loki, and will also star in the upcoming The Electric State, as well as Zootopia 2 and Love Hurts.
