Alpha Gang Movie Cast Adds Channing Tatum, Dave Bautista, & More

Channing Tatum, Dave Bautista, Zoë Kravitz, Léa Seydoux, and Riley Keough are now part of the cast of the Zellner Brothers’ alien invasion comedy feature Alpha Gang. They join the cast alongside two-time Oscar-winner Cate Blanchett, who is also producing the movie, and Steven Yeun. CAA Media is in charge of selling the North American distribution rights to the project, with MK2 Films representing it internationally. The filmmakers will shop for interested parties at the American Film Market in early November.

David and Nathan Zellner have assembled an impressive cast for Alpha Gang. The movie’s plot reportedly takes place in the ’50s and follows a group of alien invaders as they pretend to be a leather-clad biker gang, led by Blanchett’s character.

Alpha Gang was originally announced in 2020. Back then, the cast included Andrea Riseborough, Nicholas Hoult, Jon Hamm, Mackenzie Davis, Sofia Boutella, and Charlotte Gainsbourg. Blanchett boarded the project in April 2024, and Yeun is the only actor from the initial cast who is still part of the project.

Production for the movie begins in the spring of 2025. David Zellner has written the script. He and his sibling will produce the movie under the ZBi banner, while Blanchett and Coco Francini will produce with Dirty Films.

Blanchett has two other projects in the pipeline besides Alpha Gang: the spy thriller Black Dog and the comedy-drama anthology movie Father, Mother, Sister, Brother. Real-life couple Tatum and Kravitz recently worked together on the latter’s directorial debut, Blink Twice (2024). Keough previously collaborated with the Zellner Brothers on their 2024 absurdist drama movie Sasquatch Sunset.

Bautista is most well-known in the world of movies for his recurring role as Drax the Destroyer in the MCU and he recently appeared in 2024’s The Last Showgirl. The movie won the Special Jury Prize at this year’s San Sebastián International Film Festival. Seydoux, one of the most popular French actors today, has played various roles in projects such as Inglourious Basterds (2009), Blue Is the Warmest Colour (2013), Spectre (2015), No Time to Die (2021), and Dune: Part Two (2024). Meanwhile, Yeun won two Primetime Emmys for the inaugural season of Netflix’s Beef and received an Oscar nod for 2020’s Minari.

Reflecting on the latest additions to the Alpha Gang cast, mk2 Films’ Managing Director Fionnuala Jamison said, “These stellar new recruits are a powerhouse of comedic talent, adding even more excitement to this eagerly awaited film. This cast, just like the story and its filmmakers, is out of this world.” (via Deadline)
