Skinamarink Director Kyle Edward Ball Teams With A24, New Horror Movie Gets Title

Kyle Edward Ball, the filmmaker behind the divisive experimental horror film Skinamarink, has collaborated with A24 for his next horror project.

Similar to Skinamarink, Ball will also direct and write the project with A24 releasing it globally. Details about Ball’s new horror project are still being kept close to the vest.

What is Kyle Edward Ball’s new horror movie titled?

The project will be called The Land of Nod. It will be produced by Ronald Bronstein, Eli Bush, and Josh Safdie through their new banner Central Pictures. Additional producers include Lawrence Inglee, Daniel Noah, and Elijah Wood of SpectreVision, and Tatiana Bears and Bruno Vernaschi Berman, with Theo Vieljeux executive producing.

Skinamarink is among A24’s many horror features, including Heretic, Y2K, and Altar. The independent entertainment company is famously known for its slate of horror movies, such as Under the Skin, The Witch, Green Room, The Killing of a Sacred Deer, It Comes at Night, Hereditary, Midsommar, The Lighthouse, Saint Maud, Talk to Me, Bodies Bodies Bodies, Beau Is Afraid, I Saw the TV Glow, and Ti West’s X trilogy.

Ball made his feature directorial debut with the micro-budget film Skinamarink. It follows two children who wake up one night to find their father missing and all of their home’s doors and windows have mysteriously vanished.

ComingSoon’s very own Brandon Schreur included the horror film in his list of the best movies of 2023, ranking it just below Killers of the Flower Moon, Asteroid City, and How to Blow Up a Pipeline. Schreur described Skinamarink as a “you’re either going to love it or you’re going to hate it” type of movie with a cinematic style that “won’t be for everyone.”

“Two children wake up in the middle of the night to find their father is missing, and all the windows and doors in their home have vanished,” the logline reads.
