Prince Charming Movie Finds Director for Live-Action Disney Project

Disney has found the director for its upcoming Prince Charming movie, with Deadline reporting that Wonka and Paddington director Paul King has agreed to helm the project.

What do we know about the Prince Charming movie?

King — who directed the first two Paddington films and 2023’s Wonka, and also provided story help on the upcoming Paddington in Peru — will not only serve as director, but is also set to co-write the project alongside Simon Farnaby and Jon Croker. As of yet, the cast and rest of the crew for the upcoming movie is unknown.

Currently, nothing is known about the Prince Charming movie, although Deadline’s report notes that the project will not be connected to Cinderella in any way. The specific character Prince Charming appears in Cinderella, although the term “prince charming” has come to be used for any number of love interest for various Disney Princesses.

Outside of his work on Paddington and Wonka, King has worked in television dating back to 2004. King was an associate director on the British horror parody series Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace, and was also the director of the British surreal comedy series The Mighty Boosh, as well as the subsequent stage show that the series produced. In 2020, he directed two episodes of the Netflix workplace comedy series Space Force.
