Luke Evans, Gwei Lun-mei, and Sung Kang spend a high-octane Weekend in Taipei in the newly released trailer for the upcoming action movie from Ketchup Entertainment.
From the creators of Taken and The Transporter, the upcoming movie is directed by George Huang and written by Luc Besson and George Huang. It stars Evans as American DEA agent John Lawlor, Lun-mei as Joey, Kang as drug cartel leader Kwang, and Wyatt Yang as Raymond.
The film is set to hit theaters on November 8, 2024.
What happens in the Weekend in Taipei trailer?
The trailer opens with a blood-soaked John while in a car with Joey and her son Raymond as they are running away from the authorities. It was then revealed that John and Joey used to be lovers, and the former’s return to Taipei may (or may not) ignite a familiar spark.
The official synopsis reads as follows: “On a deep undercover assignment in Taipei, DEA agent John Lawlor was doing everything right… until he fell in love with his informant, beautiful Josephine “Joey” Kwang, one of the Asian underworld’s best transport drivers. Compromised and cover blown, John was forced to flee. Now, years later, John is back in Taipei for the weekend. But is he here to finish the job? Or to win back Joey’s love?”

Weekend in Taipei reunites Fast & Furious stars Evans and Kang. Evans is known for his roles in Beauty and the Beast, The Hobbit Trilogy, Nine Perfect Strangers, Professor Marston and the Wonder Women, and Dracula Untold.
On the other hand, Kang has starred in various movies and television shows like Live Free or Die Hard, Eden, Hollywood Adventures, Snakehead, Power, Lisey’s Story, and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Lun-mei, meanwhile, is a Taiwanese actress known for her appearances in All About Women, One Step Away, Beautiful Accident, The Wild Goose Lake, The Trading Floor, and more.
