Renowned actor Anthony Hopkins has become a part of the cast of the upcoming biopic Maserati: The Brothers, which is based on the founders of the luxury Maserati car company, and is set to be directed by Bobby Moresco.
Further details regarding the biopic suggest that filming for Maserati: The Brothers will commence soon in the city of Bologna, Italy. Bologna is the birthplace of Maserati cars, where the brothers kickstarted a workshop in a garage in 1914.
Anthony Hopkins to play an Italian financier in Maserati biopic
According to a report by Variety, Anthony Hopkins, known for his Oscar-winning role as Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs, has been locked in to play a part in the biopic, Maserati: The Brothers.
The report states that Hopkins is set to portray the role of a financier of Italian descent who provides the founding brothers of Maserati with financial help. Additionally, the story of the movie will revolve around brothers Ettore Maserati, Alfieri Maserati, and Ernesto Maserati, who were the founders of the Maserati car brand.
The movie is set to be directed by Bobby Moresco and produced by Andrea Iervolino. The production house is notably also behind the making of biopics about other founders of famed luxury Italian car companies Ferrari and Lamborghini. Furthermore, Maserati: The Brothers is the second collaboration between Moresco and Iervolino, who previously worked on Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend.
Talking about Anthony Hopkins’ casting, Iervolino said in a statement to the outlet, “Having Anthony Hopkins on board is a dream come true.” He further praised Hopkins’ acting talent and added, “His unparalleled ability to embody complex characters will undoubtedly elevate our story, and we are eager to see how he brings depth to his role.” Further casting details on the upcoming biopic are still reportedly being kept under wraps.
