The upcoming horror flick Terrifier 3 will be released on October 11, 2024. However, it was filmmakers who faced a shock after the movie was banned in France.
Terrifier 3 is a sequel to the highly successful Terrifier 1 and 2, which focus on the murderous adventurer Art the Clown. With the movie already carrying the reputation of being an extremely gore and bloody flick, the makers are hoping Terrifier 3 will surpass its predecessors this Halloween season.
Terrifier 3 gets banned for minors with rare 18-plus rating in France
According to a report by Dexerto, Damien Leone’s much-anticipated horror movie has been banned in France for those under the age of 18. This is the first ban since the 2006 movie Saw III, which also prohibited minors from watching the movie.
Talking to Bloody Disgusting about the ban, the French distributors of Terrifier 3 said in a statement, “We can only deplore this unexpected final decision, which will seriously hamper the release of the film, awaited by tens of thousands of French viewers and scheduled for October 9.”
The movie’s distributors added, “The audience for these films, even teenagers, is a passionate cinephile, respectful of the works and the cinemas that show them. The history of genre cinema, its excesses and outrages, is intimately linked to the history of cinema itself. Restricting access to audiences will always be a serious decision with a disturbing message, isolating authors and distancing them from their public.”
Leone took to X (formerly Twitter) to add that the ban is a “Badge of honor.”
11 audience members from Terrifier 3’s first screening in the UK left the theater. Nine viewers couldn’t bear the opening scene alone, while one person started puking.
