Scream 7 Release Date Announced for Neve Campbell Horror Sequel

A release date for Scream 7 has been announced.

Up until now, there have been six films in the Scream franchise, which began in 1996 with the Wes Craven-directed film. Following the box office success of 2023’s Scream VI, it was announced that a seventh Scream film is in the works.

When is the release date for Scream 7?

Scream 7 will be released in United States theaters on February 27, 2026. No other movies are scheduled to come out on the same day at this time.

Neve Campbell announced the release date in an Instagram post that also features a teaser image for Scream 7. View the post here:

Campbell is reprising her role as Sidney Prescott in Scream 7 after she didn’t return for Scream VI following a salary dispute. Kevin Williamson, who wrote the screenplays for the first four Scream movies, is directing.

Plot details remain under wraps at this time. Paramount Pictures is distributing the movie, while Spyglass Media is producing. The script was written by Guy Busick, while James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, and Paul Neinstein are producing and Radio Silence will executive producer.

Scream 7 was originally going to be directed by Christopher Landon. Melissa Barrera was supposed to reprise her role as Sam Carpenter in the film; however, Barrera was fired by Spyglass Media in 2023 over comments she made about the Israel-Hammas war. Jenna Ortega, who played Sam’s sister Tara in 2022’s Scream and 2023’s Scream VI, dropped out of the project shortly after that, citing scheduling conflicts with Wednesday Season 2 as her reasoning.

Following the controversy that surrounded Barrera’s firing, Landon then dropped out of the project in December 2023. Per Variety, the 2023 Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) and Writers Guild of America (WGA) strikes also resulted in a delayed production.
