What do we know about Marty Supreme?
Plot details for Marty Supreme are being kept under wraps at this time. The film was previously believed to be about professional table tennis player Marty Reisman, who lived from 1930 to 2012. It was later revealed that the movie won’t be a biopic and, instead, will be a “fictionalized original film.”
Along with Chalamet, Marty Supreme will star Gwyneth Paltrow and Tyler, the Creator.
Per Variety, the cast also includes Odessa A’zion, Penn Jillette, Kevin O’Leary, and Abel Ferrara. The script was written by Safdie and Ronald Bronstein, both of whom are also producing the movie with Eli Bush, Anthony Katagas, Chalamet, and A24.
Safdie made his feature film directorial debut in 2008 with The Pleasure of Being Robbed. He then co-directed a number of movies with his brother, Benny, including 2017’s Good Time with Robert Pattinson and 2019’s Uncut Gems with Adam Sandler. With the two brothers having decided to explore their own solo careers, Benny is now working on The Smashing Machine with Dwayne Johnson, which is expected to be released in 2025.
Chalamet recently reprised his role as Paul Atreidies in Denis Villeneueve’s Dune: Part Two, which was released earlier this year. He’ll next be seen playing Bob Dylan in James Mangold’s biographical drama A Complete Unknown, which will be released on December 25, 2024.
A release date for Marty Supreme has not yet been announced by A24.
