Sean Astin recently took to social media to share a fan-made Goonies 2 poster, while also sending a message out to director Steven Spielberg.
What did Sean Astin say about Goonies 2?
In a recent post on X, Astin shared the poster with the message that it was their time, while also jokingly telling Spielberg — who wrote the story for the original film — to “c’mon” with a sequel film. The poster itself is a simple one, with just a potential title for the second film on it and a fake date of 2026 as a release date window.

The poster itself was originally released on the official Facebook page of RuPaul’s Drag Race Family. The poster features a shaft of light descending from a hole above the film’s new title, Goonies Are Good Enough. This title is likely a reference to the Cyndi Lauper song from the original movie’s soundtrack.
Originally released in 1985, The Goonies is an adventure comedy film by director Richard Donner, which follows the story of a group of kids who attempt to save their houses from foreclosure while also going on an incredible adventure after finding a treasure map. The film featured an all-star ensemble cast of actors, including Astin, Josh Brolin, Jeff Cohen, Corey Feldman, Kerri Green, Martha Plimpton, and Ke Huy Quan.
The film was a massive success upon its launch and has gone on to become one of the most recognizable films of all time. In 2017, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress for being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.”
