The Crow Digital Release Date Set for Bill Skarsgard Reimagining

The Crow is coming home.

The new reimagining of The Crow starring Bill Skarsgård was released in United States theaters on August 23, 2024. Directed by Rupert Sanders, the film made approximately $18.7 million at the global box office off an estimated $50 million budget.

Lionsgate has now announced that The Crow will be available to purchase and rent on digital platforms such as Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Google Play, Fandango at Home, and more on September 13, 2024.

The digital release will come with a number of special features that allow fans to learn more about Skarsgård’s performance, how the environment was built, the costumes, and more.

What is the new version of The Crow about?

“Bill Skarsgård takes on the iconic role of The Crow in this modern reimagining of the original graphic novel by James O’Barr,” the synopsis reads. “Soulmates Eric (Skarsgård) and Shelly (FKA Twigs) are brutally murdered when the demons of her dark past catch up with them. Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric sets out to seek merciless revenge on their killers, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to put the wrong things right.”

Written by Zach Baylin and William Schneider, the film also stars Danny Huston, Josette Simon, Laura Birn, and Sami Bouajila. Edward R. Pressman, Samuel Hadida, Victor Hadida, Molly Hassell, and John Jencks served as producers.

The Skarsgård-starring movie is the fifth entry in The Crow franchise. The first movie was directed by Alex Proyas and starred the late Brandon Lee, who was tragically killed during the film’s production. The Crow: City of Angels followed in 1996 along with two direct-to-video releases, 2000’s The Crow: Salvation and 2005’s The Crow: Wicked Prayer.
