Knives Out 3 Budget Is 5 Times More Than Rian Johnson’s Original

Knives Out 3’s massive budget has been revealed, and it’s five times more than Rian Johnson’s first Knives Out film.

How Much is the Knives Out 3 Budget?

Per Jeff Sneider of The InSneider newsletter, Knives Out 3’s rumored budget is $210 million. This is a substantial upgrade over the $40 million budget of Knives Out. After the success of Knives Out, Netflix paid a whopping $450 million in March 2021 to secure the rights to two Knives Out sequels. Johnson, star Daniel Craig, and producer Ram Bergman reportedly earned over $100 million for the two films.

Knives Out 3, officially titled Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, marks the return of Craig as Benoit Blanc, a private detective who will be called upon to solve another murder.

Knives Out 3’s ensemble cast features Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack, and Thomas Haden Church.

Johnson writes and directs the third Knives Out installment. Johnson produces alongside Bergman and Katie McNeill. Wake Up Dead Man’s title is inspired by the 1997 U2 song from their album Pop.

Wake Up Dead Man’s plot details remain under wraps, though Blanc described it as his “most dangerous case yet” in a brief teaser. Filming began in London this past June and lasted until August.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery will stream on Netflix in 2025.
